Kara is a girl idol group in formed by DSP in 2007. The group is composed of Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Goo Hara, and Heo Youngji. The group originally started off as a 4 member group with Park Gyrui, Han Seungyeon, Nicole Jung and Kim Sung Hee. The following year, Kim Sung Hee departed from the group and Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung join the group. Since 2008 the group been a 5 member group until 2014, when Nicole Jung and Kang Jiyoung decided not to renew their contracts with DSP Media thus leaving the group to pursue their own career. Nicole leave for the United States preparing for a solo debut under a different agency while Kang Jiyoung further her studies overseas and currently acting as an actress in Japan. Heo Youngji join the group in 2014 through the show Kara Project, where seven trainees from DSP Media compete among each other to join the group.
